It isn't illegal, but just how much could receiving money from pharmaceutical companies influence your doctor? To find out if your doctor has received drug company money, use the widget on the right hand column of my blog.
Is your doctor listed? Would you continue to see him or her if they were?

My headache specialist IS listed but I already know he conducts research for drug companies, and sometimes gives lectures FOR those companies on study results.
Nice little gadget tho!!!
It was no surprise to find my ex-Neuro listed. He's made thousands from three top pharmaceutical companies (and that list is only comprised of drug companies who chose to go public - there could be others).
I'm glad your headache specialist was up front with you, unlike mine. Have you noticed him pushing a particular brand-name drug from the companies that paid him, or does he look for generics to save his patients money?
So I looked. And my doc made $100k off the various pharmaceutical companies last year. At least the ones that reported it. Am I surprised? No. Do I have a problem with this? Any other doctor, yes, but not him. Are you kidding? He'll prescribe anything and everything if he thinks it'll help. Or he'll send me off to a Wellness class. Or refer me to physical therapy or a specialist. He's equal opportunity...at least with me. I have no problem with him. But the DEA might.
Thanks for commenting, Anonymous.
I'm glad you found a doctor who will prescribe whatever you need. I would guess these days he's a rare find.
Was your doctor up front with you about his being paid by drug companies? You mentioned you weren't surprised at seeing his name, so I'm curious.
Do you feel he leans toward prescribing brand name medications from the very companies who are paying him?
