I used to peruse blogs and curiously scroll down sidebars, enviously admiring all those cute award buttons. I wondered how long those authors must have been at their craft before someone came along and gifted them the blogger version of a thumbs up.
Recognition and validation are very important, especially to those of us who have been invalidated by doctors, and their sometimes not-so-pleasant office staff. Even spouses, friends, family and co-workers can turn their backs on us when we need understanding the most.
While nursing today's hormonal migraine, I received notice of this award. I couldn't respond as quickly as I wanted to, but I had the biggest smile on my pain-filled face for most of the afternoon.
Rule #1: Thank the person who gave you your award.
Thank you MigrainePuppet for recognizing me and my blog, for sharing my blog with your readers, and for honoring me with the Versatile Blogger Award. I feel and admire the honesty in each of your posts, and I thank you for sharing your experience with me and all of your readers. It truly does take someone who's been there to understand and help you move forward, whether they're sharing helpful advice or just reassurance.
Rule #2: Share seven things about yourself.
The father I haven't heard from since I was two years old is back in my life thanks to facebook.
I want to travel the world, preferably places with zero cell phone access and amazing local food.
I can't watch backup singers without fantasizing about being one. Erykah Badu, call me!
I can't style my own hair to save my life.
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. But I'm all set with who I want to be.
I still play video games.
I'm joyously married to my high school sweetheart.
Rule #3: Pass the award onto bloggers you recently discovered, and who you think are fantastic!
A Stellarlife
No Fun
MediCann
The Canary Report
In Sickness and In Health
ChronicHealing.com
Free My Brain From Migraine Pain
Migraine Chick
Against the 'Graine
Dreams at Stake
Loving With Chronic Illness
Migraine-Free Cooking!
Rule #4: Contact the bloggers you picked and let them know about the award.

Thanks for the award, Jasmine! I'm honored! It was fun to read your list as well. I too want to travel the world and have never been able to style my hair to save my life. ;) I did a similar list for a similar award here:

Hugs Eva, and you are welcome <3
Jasmine I am touched to receive the award. I hadn't been blogging much since increasing work hours in March, but I seem to be getting back to it, so I'll post the award now. I always love reading what's going on with you, and thanks for the vote of confidence too!
I understand, Megan. Hope you're not working too hard, and that you are making sure to catch up on rest when you're off. Have a great weekend :)
