Undone

This is a project I started in 1997 for an art class I was taking. I haven't finished it yet; there are areas that are obviously missing attention and there are other areas that I spent too much time on. Pretty symbolic to my life. Just shows if you get too focused on one small part you miss the big picture.

Migraine and Depression

The July/August National Headache Foundation's "NHF HeadLines" newsletter front page reads "Depression with Migraine Make Other Medical Disorders More Likely." Basically if you suffer from depression you're likely to suffer from migraines. And if you have migraines, you're probably depressed because of it. But there's more good news...

"...the presence of both migraine and depression in the same patient seems to increase the potential, even the probability, for the existence of additional disorders known as comorbidities (defined as medical conditions found more often than would be expected if their occurrence were by random chance). Investigators have concluded that in migraineurs, comorbidities such as epilepsy, stroke, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, chronic fatigue, dysmenorrhea, and a number of others occur at a significantly higher rate than in subjects without a history of migraines."

Oh happy day!

Shazam!

Hahaha my husband came home to a bunny-hopping, giggling me. I'm giddy because Dane Cook accepted my can-I-be-your-myspace-friend request. Okay, I'm a dork but he's just so badass for taking the time to talk with fans and he's one of my favorite comedians, so yeah I'm excited (teehee).

Hope you're happy Malli

Ugh, I'm perfectly happy with this blog but a friend of ours insisted I get a myspace account so I can see his blog, so here you go Malli ... hope you're happy. And by the way, you are so not 18 years old =P

Myspace has got to be the most un-user friendly blog setup I've ever seen. Unless there's just something I'm not getting or I'm just spoiled by blogger.com.

How to be a cool blogger

The more I peruse other blogs the more I realize how uncool mine is. First of all, naming your blog after you ... not cool. The title should say something about you, to draw interest.

Secondly, to achieve ultimate coolness you offer a chance for readers to comment but you never, never respond. I mean a simple thank you to an I-love-your-blog would be so passe. And in all honesty you're so busy living your cool life, and blogging about it, who has time for idle chitchat.

And you're not a cool blogger unless you're traveling the world and sharing amazing photos of you and all your photogenic friends, giving tips on wine selection, and sharing recipes for that special occassion because you not only love to cook it's your meditation (freaks!).

So I raise my uncool glass of water to those of you out there, struggling with real life, who find solace in a simple I-know-exactly-what-you're-going-through or an I'm-here-for-you-if-you-need-me message because I know exactly what you're going through and I'm here for you if you need me.

MWF who needs to improve her game

When I was reading Raen's blog I started thinking...

Don't you love tv shows/movies where the main character has this amazing friend, who totally has thier back and is in their face, supporting/inspiring/motivating them to achieve their goals? In my whole life I've never had a friend like that. I've had to be my own cheerleader. Unfortunately, when I'm chemically at a low point I become my worst critic.

I really, really, really want to be inspired and I would love to not have to pay for it (by hiring a life coach). I want to find a friend who moves me, makes me want to be better.

When I played tennis in high school and college I realized how much my form improved when I played a better opponent. I may not have won many matches but it definitely improved my game.

The same holds true for guitar. If you learn a piece and feel so good about it that you only play that piece then you're not improving. You have to practice your scales and learn something new to keep your mind/body in tune (pun intended ;)
